Quiz Review for 7th Grade

Hey 7th Graders!  Some of you are having problems with RenWeb, so here is the review key!

Ch. 20

1.       Describe the parable of the wicked tenants.

The tenants are a metaphor for the people who do want to give glory to God.  The messengers they beat up and expel represent the prophets.  When they kill the property owner’s son, it represents Jesus’ crucifixion.

2.      How do the Pharisees try to trick Jesus with a question about taxes?  What is his response?

They ask him what they should do with their money since it is technically God’s, but Jesus responds to give the due taxes to the Emperor and give to God what is God’s.



Ch. 21

3.      What is significant about the widow’s offering at the beginning of this chapter?

She gives all that she has even though it is not very much.

4.      What does Jesus say will happen to Jerusalem in the future?

It will see destruction.



Ch. 22

5.       Which disciple betrays Jesus to the Chief Priests and the Scribes for a bag of silver?

Judas Iscariot

6.      What are the disciples and Jesus celebrating when they sit down for the last supper?

Passover

7.      Where does Jesus go to pray in this chapter and what does he pray for?

He goes to the Mount of Olives and prays for strength in temptation and for his burden to be lightened or taken away.

8.      How do the guards know who to arrest when they come upon the disciples and Jesus?

Judas kisses him on the cheek to tell the guards which one was Jesus.

9.      Who denies knowing Jesus at this point, fulfilling Jesus’ prediction?

11.  Who is it that calls for the crucifixion of Jesus?

13.  When Pilate gives people the option to free a prisoner, how do they respond?

They choose to free Barabbas, a man in prison for rioting and murder instead of Jesus.

14.  As Jesus begins his journey to the site where he will be killed, who is recruited from the crowd to help him carry his cross?

15.  What are Jesus’ final words in the Gospel of Luke?

“Father, I give you my life.” Translations may vary according to the Bible being used.

16.  Who prepares Jesus for burial and what gift does he give to Jesus?

Joseph (not his father), and he gives Jesus his tomb, a luxury not everyone could afford.



Ch. 24

17.  Who first goes to Jesus’ tomb to see his body, and who do they find there instead of Jesus?

The female followers of Jesus are the first at the tomb and they find two angels standing in the empty tomb.

18.   Describe what happens on the road to Emmaus.

Jesus appears to two travelers in disguise and listens to them discuss the events in Jerusalem (his death).  When he goes to eat dinner with the travelers, he reveals himself to them and disappears.

19.   When Jesus’ appears to his disciples, what happens?

They were afraid at first but he ate with them and helped them understand the scriptures.

20.  The gospel of Luke ends with a recounting of what final act of Jesus?

His ascension into heaven.
